Wear Something Green!
Co-Founders of the Future Traditions Foundation, Misa & Stephen Kelly are deeply saddened by the loss of their "Pioneer Pop" on June 11th - one day shy of his 96th birthday.
Frank Kelly wanted his life to be celebrated in many different venues. Consequently we are producing a concert especially for him. Frank was one of the Future Traditions Foundations most passionate, faithful, and generous of patrons. We produced the first Glorious Beings Celebration, honoring Robert Muller and Barbara Gaughen, with a rainbow of music ranging from Robert leading us (on the harmonica) in the Ode to Joy, to great works by Saint-Saens and Beethoven for voice and piano.
Frank Kelly thrived on music and dance. He was ever present at our events & ever eager for his weekly private concert in his son's home.
We want to create a great evening of magic and joy as we remember his passion for living and loving!
Without his love, support, guidance & enthusiasm the Future Traditions Foundation would never have come into being.
We love you Pioneer Pop, we miss you greatly and we very much look forwards to honoring your request for your life to be celebrated in many venues.
We've a seat reserved for you front row and center and hope to track down a nice bunch of shamrocks to sit proxy in your place.
Joy!
Misa & Stephen Kelly

VALUES:
As a community we commit to integrity, excellence, hard work, authentic communication, laughter, play & celebration! We choose the path of most growth fusing artistic excellence with community service excellence & seek to be the change we wish to see in the world.
OUR HISTORY: 1998-2005
The Future Traditions Foundation is a Santa Barbara based 501(c)3 that was founded in 1998 by Sarah Wingren, and Misa & Stephen Kelly.
At that time Co-Founder Misa Kelly met with many artists in the community asking them to communicate what they felt were the unmet needs of local artists.
Kelly then worked with her co-founders to draft a set of bylaws that would not only serve SonneBlauma but would be broad enough, and diverse enough, to encompass the expressed needs within the community that were not being met by other local non-profits.
Between 1998-2005 The Future Traditions Foundation, operating on 100% volunteer efforts, passed along an exceptionally high percentage of the funds (98%) it received.
With these funds they served their community by:
- Providing dance classes for children of homeless parents at Christmas time
- Offering free tickets to theatrical events to those in need through their Golden Gifts Program
- Providing free umbrella services to local performing arts groups
- Supporting contemporary dance companies by providing costume subsidies, free videography services, and technical support
- Production of workshops
- Hosting studio showings
- Providing rehearsal space fees through its Art Shack program funded by the Santa Barbara County Arts Organization
- Building a strong volunteer administrative basis
- Launching SonneBlauma working on
a project to project basis
2005-2010:
In 2005 our Board of Directors decided to narrow its focus in order to better achieve its goal of growing the dance company.
Since 2005 SonneBlauma has completed over 50 projects. Projects such as:
- Traveling to Istanbul to perform, present a lecture demonstration, and conduct a week long workshop
- Travelling to NYC to perform in the COOL New York Dance Festival
- Thrice attend the Monterey Dance Festival
- Teach and perform at Moorpark College
- Producing 3 Cities 3 Choreographers performing in Los Angeles, Pacific Grove, Santa Cruz, and in Santa Barbara
- Performing at the Electric Lodge in Venice, CA as a part of the MAX10 Series on numerous occassions
- Performing locally at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, the Granda Theater, at Yoga Soup as a part of Cybil Gilbertson's NECTAR series, and being chosen five times to perform in the Santa Barbara Dance Alliance's New Works annual production
- Perform as a guest artist with Santa Barbara City College's dance department & Fusion Dance Company
- Produced many master classes bringing teachers from Los Angeles and Michigan.
- Open its company class to the community on a donation basis teaching adults ranging in age from 18 to 62 of varied ethnicities and from all walks of life
